Le chat porte-bonheur nostalgique
jan.2026
Inspired by Henri Rivière and Utagawa Hiroshige
This work is the 7th "Ukiyo.e" in Paris, depicting the view from rue Thérèse. Many "Maneki-neko (lucky cat / le chat porte-bonheur)", believed to bring happiness and customers, peek out from the shops in this area where Japanese restaurants gather. The distant view to the east references Hiroshige's "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" No.8, depicting the bustling commercial streets of Edo, specifically the image of Mount Fuji from "Suruga-cho".
