王子煙草屋跡

王子にある煙草屋の風景です。煙草屋は昭和時代に日本の至るところで見られた日常の風景でしたが、時代の流れにより近年では見かけることも少なくなりました。残念ながら、ここに描かれている煙草屋も、窓口のシャッターは閉じています。そのような過ぎ去る時間の流れを物語るように、遠景には最新の東北新幹線が走行しています。

This work is a view of a tobacco shop in Oji. Tobacco shops were a common sight throughout Japan during the Showa-era (1926-1989), but with the passage of time, they have become less common in recent years. Unfortunately, the tobacco shop depicted here also has its window shutters closed. As if to illustrate the passing of time, the latest Tohoku Shinkansen (bullet train) is running in the distant background.
