Roppongi sora no chobo

sep.2021

Inspired by Utagawa Hiroshige

Inspired by Hiroshige's "Asukayama kita no chobo", No.17, and "Yushima Tenjin sakaue chobo", No.117 from "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo", the artist depicted the view from the Sky Deck of Roppongi Hills as a bird's-eye view, which was not available in the Edo period.

The large butterfly on the left is based on the artist's experience when they visited this location. The helipad on the Sky Deck is depicted in the close-up view, Tokyo Tower and Zojoji Temple in the middle view, and Tokyo Bay in the distant view.
