Shinbashi Shiodome
mar.2025
Inspired by Utagawa Hiroshige
This work depicts the area in front of Shimbashi Station, which is considered a sacred place for businessmen. This is because of the izakaya (Japanese-style pubs), bears, and cafes that stand under the station's elevated railway tracks and a long the street in front of the station, and the office buildings that surround them.
This station was Japan's first railroad station and is still home to many well-established and well-known companies and media-related corporate buildings. At the foot of the buildings, which rise darkly at the end of the working day, red lanterns and neon lights shine until late at tonight.
