新宿呉爾羅通

本作はコロナ禍の外出自粛期間において制作された、夜景「よる之景」シリーズの一つで、新宿歌舞伎町のメインストリート、ゴジラロードの雨の景色が描かれています。

当時、実際は感染症対策のために多くのネオンが消え、看板が外されていましたが、また鮮やかに光が灯ることを祈ってこの作品が生まれました。

Inspired by Utagawa Hiroshige

This work is one of the night view series "Yoru no Kei" during the curfew period due to the COVID-19 crisis. It depicts a rainy view of Godzilla Road, the main street of Kabukicho, Shinjuku's entertainment district.

In reality, many neon lights were turned off and signs were removed at that time to prevent infection. One of the members of EXCALIBUR lived near Kabukicho and was greatly disturbed by the situation, and this work was created in hopes that the lights would come back on brightly.
